Blog Post 6: Mockingjay- Haymitch

        In Mockingjay the "mentor" is Haymitch.
   Haymitch trains and encourages Peeta and Katniss as they go through the Hunger Games. Now they've met some new obstacles and Haymitch has new roles but he still keeps his mentor personality. He teachs, gives his (sometimes unwanted) opinions, and overall compainion and person to talk to.
   He also has some attributes of the shapeshifter. At the beginning you don't know whether to trust him or hate him, because he asks very rude and mysterious. katniss doesn't know how to feel about him either which makes the reader even less assured.
He is more a mentor but has parts of a shapeshifter in his personality.

Blog Post 5: Mockingjay

Classic: A book can be classic for a few reasons:
~ an author with demonstratable enduring quality
~ often has acient Greece and rome literature and langueges

~ is honored as definitive in it's field

I believe Mockingjay will become a classic because it is so popular. Future generations should read this book because it's intriuging and you litraly can not put it down. It's so captivating and you either fall inlove with the characters or you hate them with all your mind. It is honestly one of the best series I've ever read, and thats why I believe it will become a classic!

Blog Post 4: Catching Fire

I have to admit, I can't find very many similarities between this book and others, or this book and me. "Catching Fire" is so original that it has few similarities with other books and the story is so dark I don't have many personal connections but there is one major connection to the real world.


"All i can think of is the emaciated bodies of the childeren on our kitchen table as my mother prescribes what the parents can't give. More food. Now that we're rich, she'll send some home with them. But often in the old days, there was nothing to give and the child was past savineing, anyway. and here in the Capitol there vomiting for the pleasure of filling there bellies again and again. Not from some illness of bodiy or mind, not from spoiled food. It's what everyone does at a party. Expected. Part of the fun."


This is one section of the book that reminds me of the second world war. The Nazis are like the people from the Capitol and the people from the districts are like the Jews. The Capitol people use trains to transport the distric's people, and when one person steps out of line there are killed or tortured or sometimes both. These are two examles of why it's alot like the horrors the Jews went through.

Blog Post 3: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is a determined, and curious guy who is having a pretty rough life. But now that he knows who he is, no one will tell him anything more, no matter how much he asks. He's confused, upset, and quite lost, but non-the-less brave and strong.


I believe Percy will, find who he truly is and show everyone he has worth and meaning. He will prove everyone wrong and no matter what, he will stick up for his friends and family. I think he will conquer all, will save his mother and find his father, and they will all live happily ever after

I chose this music video because Percy doesn't understand what everyone wants from him. He's confused and sad, and thats like some of the words in this song.

Blog Post 2: The Hunger Games

I have read the book: The Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins

Katniss Everdeen has volunteered to participate in the hunger games, where teens fight to the death. Her and Peeta Mellark are sent away to join the others participants and soon find themselves in a land, on there own, with only one another and have to fight to survive. Battling supernatural creatures, bad weather and there opponents, Katniss and Peeta must struggle to stay alive.

This story is amazingly well written and is a tale of life, death, and love. I feel in love with the characters, they were so lifelike I felt I knew them. Its an exciting book with a twist of darkness hidden in the pages. You may find it impossible to put down like I did, constant action that will involve you, making you cry, laugh, and think.

I chose this quote because it's so creative and intriguing. It describes an authors point of view, and makes you think of how an author feels while there writing a book. It's a different idea and its just so fascinating. This quote really speaks to me and makes me want to write my own books just to experience this excitement. This quote is so wonderful and that's why I chose it.
